I hold a masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark College as well as certificate in Ecopsychology. This framework speaks to the recognition of the connections between the mental health of the client with the overall health of the culture and the planet. Along with this I have completed professional training from M.E.T.A in Hakomi Body Centered Psychotherapy, EMDR and Equine assisted psychotherapy through EAGALA certification and Natural Lifemanships Trauma focused equine assisted psychotherapy. I have worked in the mental health field since 2007, including wilderness therapy, residential treatment, private practice and outpatient counseling clinics. Along with my experience in counseling I am a certified yoga teacher and have traveled the country teaching trauma informed yoga trainings for many years. I received my bachelor’s degree from Prescott College in human development focusing on the therapeutic use of adventure education as well as dance.

  • How nature is incorporated into the therapeutic approach:My approach is mindfulness-based, and experiential, meaning that I will help you deepen your awareness of the specific ways you experience yourself, others, and the world around you. Since 2012 I have seen clients on a 60 acre farm where the more than human world is foundational to the process of healing and our work together. Prior to working in this setting I spent years working in wilderness therapy, as well as having experienced some of my own most profound healing in time spent in the natural world. As an eco therapist connection with earth and its systems are at the core of this orientation. Personal well-being and planetary well-being are not separate from each other. Much of the work I do with clients draws from a somatic and attachment based lens, in which our relationship to the more then human world can often provide regulation and safety in times when the human world has failed. Time spent connecting with the non human living world allows opportunity to re-remember we are part of all systems in a way that can helps normalize trauma, grief, and other life experiences. It can also allow us opportunities to explore how we connect, and provide rich opportunity to move through less sustainable strategies or build upon the resources we naturally move towards in seeking connection and safety that help us thrive.
