I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and have spent the last 5 years as a nature-based therapist at a 70-acre farm in Canby, OR, utilizing the healing aspects of nature and engaging in such deeply-rooted human endeavors as forest archery, shelter and fire building, guided mushroom foraging, nature art, and specialized ceremonies and rituals. I specialize in life coaching, spiritual development, personal growth, getting unstuck, trauma, life transitions, career success, self-esteem and self-image, men’s issues, and rites of passage. One of my most passionate interests and endeavors is utilizing a unique balance of humor, creativity, performance art, and psychological-cultural science and observation for motivational staff retreats.

I received a Master’s in Counseling and a Master’s in Education, as well as a PhD in health psychology with a focus on effective coping mechanisms for daily and life stressors and alternative healing modalities. My doctoral research focused on the intersection of ethnopharmacology and psychology—specifically the healing potential of ayahuasca, an Amazonian plant medicine (entheogen), used by shamans for thousands of years to cure a voluminous array of human physical and psychological maladies.

Over the last decade, I have combined my nature-based, psychedelic, and clinical experience toward a focus on optimal living and radical flexibility and achievement, employing neuro-cognitive restoration and peak performance components, which includes such concepts as flow states, “bullet-proof mind” modalities, authenticity, psychitecture (reprogramming negative feedback loops), dream work, sensatory honing (utilizing eco-therapeutic and ethno-pharmacologic tools), and behavioral health support (nutrition, movement, etc.). I have also researched the remarkable properties and potential of psilocybin mushrooms for not only PTSD, anxiety, and depression, but also for helping to re-wire the brain, and changing our maladaptive “programming,” which contributes to negative behavioral and thinking patterns.

I have worked alongside physicians and nurses as a behavioral health consultant, utilizing a blend of motivational interviewing, nutritional education, and a variety of alternative healing modalities (breathwork, Eastern movement forms, Earthing, etc.). I have also been actively involved in professional cultural anthropology associations and consciousness groups and has given talks at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, OR, the Happiness Institute and California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, and the Anthropology of Consciousness on such topics as consciousness expansion, shamanism, Jungian archetypes, and the healing potential of entheogenic compounds.

I have also spent nearly a decade in the business world as a consultant, corporate trainer, and business leader and have a great deal of experience in motivation, success training, and life coaching, which I blend with my clinical research and experience. I have an eclectic approach to counseling individuals that includes Impact Therapy, mindfulness techniques, dream journaling and interpretation, eco-therapeutic techniques, Somatic Therapy, cognitive-behavioral approaches, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Psycho-Cybernetics, Existential Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Narrative techniques.

I believe that getting in touch with nature, as well as engaging in rituals, is the first step in alleviating stress and allowing us to reestablish a healthy baseline. Helping individuals re-write their story can help to create more healthy patterns of interaction and living. In my spare time, I like to write fiction; play guitar, flute, and drums; backpack and hike; garden; and I am an avid mushroom forager, cultivator, and gourmet cook.

  • How nature is incorporated into the therapeutic approach:MyndRavyn’s mission is to utilize the most effective therapeutic modalities, combining more modern insights with ancient technologies and wisdom to help people overcome their suffering, or achieve their most optimal living state, and come to a place where life stressors and obstacles become fuel for growth and change. Using eco-therapy, creative urban therapy, experiential immersion retreats, psych-tech, plant medicines, shamanic rituals, and other effective therapeutic methods, the vision of MyndRavyn is to help initiate positive cultural change—to effectively and radically shift the outlook, perspective, and lifestyle of individuals—one by one, group by group, to eventually foster a planet of thriving communities. MyndRavyn operates on the belief that getting in touch with nature, engaging in rituals, finding ways to unravel and re-wire our “faulty programming” in a modern culture perforated by toxicity and corrupt ideologies and practices, is the first step in alleviating stress and allowing humans to reestablish a healthy baseline, and re-build like-minded communities. Humans create scripts and myths and often resist change, although many issues can be resolved by interrupting the familiar patterns and using language and environment in new ways to foster new perspectives.
